CoreOS, on this site, means Fedora CoreOS used as an appliance. One job, a declarative host, containers that systemd brings back after a reboot. I do not put a daily-driver desktop on it, and I do not treat it as a smaller Fedora Workstation. The posts under this tag are the original beginner install, Pi-hole as a Quadlet, AdGuard Home as a Quadlet with nftables, and a systemd timer for a nightly reboot.

Read the beginner guide if you have never written Butane or handed Ignition to an installer. The 2026 version of that path, with Bitwarden SSH keys and AdGuard, lives on the Fedora CoreOS tag because the title uses the full name. It is the same operating system. I link it below so you do not miss it because of a tag spelling. After the host exists, the Quadlet posts are the ones I want you to copy from. They assume the machine is already installed and they stay narrow on purpose.

Pi-hole and AdGuard Home both want port 53. Pick one. A nightly reboot is a host timer, not a security strategy, and it should land when nobody needs DNS. Docker shows up in the tags because that is how a lot of homelab notes are filed, but the units I actually want on CoreOS are Podman Quadlets. If the box also needs a GUI, it is the wrong box.
